Situated on the ancestral homeland of the Tongva Peoples, Chaffey
College is one of the oldest community colleges in California and

Furthermore, 40% of our students are first-generation college

Under general direction, the Dean, Kinesiology and Nutrition /
Director, Athletics is responsible to plan, organize, and supervise
the Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Athletics departments and
curriculum; lead, plan, organize, direct and manage the college's
Intercollegiate Athletic Program.
Responsibilities
Administer the development and preparation of class schedules,
room, and faculty assignments and class sections to be offered.
Organize and administer programs of intercollegiate competition;
administer scheduling of events and facilities, as well as
coordinate the use, maintenance, and security of District equipment
and facilities.
Assure compliance with various state laws regarding participation
and eligibility and athletic eligibility compliance. Provide
support to eligibility clerk in determining eligibility of
athletes.
Develop curriculum for kinesiology classes; review and evaluate
course offerings and methods of instruction.
Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned faculty, staff
and professional experts; interview and select employees and
recommend transfers, reassignment, termination, and disciplinary
actions; plan, coordinate, and arrange training of direct
reports.
Develop, prepare and monitor the annual budget of the kinesiology,
nutrition, and athletic programs; analyze and review budgetary and
financial data; monitor and authorize expenditures in accordance
with established guidelines.
Develop and implement long and short-term plans and activities
including staffing, facilities, curriculum, and educational
philosophy.
Communicate with other administrators, district personnel, and
contractors to coordinate activities and programs, resolve issues
and conflicts, and exchange information.
Determine appropriate equipment and supplies; submit textbook
requests.
Conducts regular program review and evaluation.
Coordinates all home athletic events
Develop, direct, and supervise men's and women's intercollegiate
athletic program, including recruiting, scheduling, staffing, and
game management;
Ensure compliance with all rules, regulations, procedures, and
policies for the intercollegiate athletics program as established
by the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA),
representative athletic conference(s), the NCAA, Chaffey College
policies and procedures, and other applicable laws and
regulations
Assume responsibility for the program's compliance with Title IX
objectives and conducts regular meetings and training to promote
strict adherence among personnel and student athletes to conference
and state athletic rules, regulations, and codes, including student
eligibility guidelines;
Responsible for the accurate completion and submission of the
Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA);
Recruit, supervise, and participate in the selection and
recommendation of coaching and assigned staff
Organize and administer programs of intercollegiate competition;
administer scheduling of events and facilities;
Supervise and facilitate supervision of athletic contests; act as
AIA as needed;
Communicate with other administrators, district personnel, and
contractors to coordinate activities and programs, resolve issues
and conflicts, and exchange information for assigned areas;
Manage the sports information program ensuring the timely,
accurate, and professional dissemination of information and develop
and implement an effective marketing and promotional program;
Represent the college at conferences and state athletic meetings
and to the community, other schools, and organizations regarding
the athletic program;
Work closely with the director of the Chaffey College Foundation to
coordinate fundraising efforts for assigned programs;
Facilitate the Athletics Hall of Fame selection process and
recognition in coordination with the Alumni Relations office as
well as annual PAWS Orientation Events;
Participate in shared governance through service on college
governance and other committees;
Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree
One (1) year of formal training, internship, or leadership
experience reasonably related to the administrative assignment
Demonstrated evidence of a sensitivity to and understanding of the
diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender
identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds in a community
college environment
Knowledge of:
Concepts of course scheduling and enrollment management
The rules and regulations of the intercollegiate sports offered by
the college; knowledge of the rules and policies of the NCAA, NCIA,
and CCCAA which govern community college sports
General principles of organization, management and employee
supervision, and training
Effective research, analytical and report writing techniques
Ability to:
Plan, organize, direct, and administer a program of intercollegiate
athletics and an academic program including curriculum
development
Analyze, evaluate and recommend innovative changes to existing
programs
Direct the work of others
Reconcile divergent views
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Evaluate needs, present recommendations, and make oral and written
presentations
MEETING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS DOES NOT ASSURE THE CANDIDATE OF AN

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Administrative experience supervising academic and athletics
programs in a community college.
Demonstrated experience implementing equity and access for
disproportionately underserved groups.
Experience as a faculty member in the discipline or as a head
coach.
Experience with supervision, budgeting, and program
coordination.
Experience fundraising

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Positions in this classification may be required to work varied
hours according to need. Evening and weekend hours are
required.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a full-time, 12-month position; Level II, Range 32 of the
Management Personnel Plan. Effective date of employment will be as
soon as a successful candidate is selected and a mutually agreed
upon date is determined. Excellent benefits include: health care,

Being able and ready to work onsite at a Chaffey facility or
